The Ghana Football Association has named experienced football manager Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United coach is expected to spearhead Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Carlos Queiroz arrives with extensive World Cup experience, having played key roles in guiding South Africa to qualify for the 2002 tournament, leading Portugal national football team to the knockout stage in 2010, and managing Iran national football team at both the 2014 and 2018 editions.
His managerial career also includes stints across Egypt, Oman, Japan, and Qatar, bringing a wealth of international experience to the role.
He is set to assume duties immediately, with his focus on preparing the team for the World Cup, scheduled to kick off on June 11, 2026.
Ghana will begin its group-stage campaign against Panama national football team on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England national football team and Croatia national football team in subsequent matches.
