Pop star Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the electronics giant of using her image on television packaging in the United States without her approval.
According to court documents filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California, Samsung allegedly displayed a photograph of the singer’s face on several television product boxes to help market and sell its products.
The lawsuit claims the company sought to benefit commercially from Dua Lipa’s popularity and public image without obtaining permission.
The case includes allegations of copyright infringement, trademark infringement and unlawful use of the singer’s likeness.
The filing states that the image in question was taken during her performance at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2024 and that the singer owns the copyright to the photograph.
According to the lawsuit, Dua Lipa only became aware of the issue in June 2025 after fans began sharing images of the television boxes on social media, with some users referring to the packaging as the “Dua Lipa TV Box.”
The legal filing also referenced online comments from fans suggesting that the singer’s image influenced their interest in purchasing the televisions.
Her lawyers further alleged that Samsung ignored several requests to stop using the image.
Over the years, Dua Lipa has secured endorsement and partnership deals with major global brands including Puma, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty. She has also worked with Apple, Porsche, Chanel and recently became a global ambassador for Nespresso.
Her latest album, Radical Optimism, was released in 2024.
