Tolon Team A emerged champions of the Soyalana Gala Tournament after defeating Nyankpala Team B 2-0 in the final held in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region.
The football competition is an initiative by Habib Iddrisu, the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Tolon, aimed at empowering young people in the area through sports development.
For winning the tournament, Tolon Team A received GH₵20,000, a trophy and medals. Nyankpala Team B, who finished as runners-up, took home GH₵15,000 alongside medals and a trophy, while the third-placed team received GH₵10,000 with medals and a trophy.
Individual awards were also presented during the competition. The top scorer of the tournament received a brand-new motorbike and a plaque, while the best goalkeeper and overall best player were each awarded a motorbike and a plaque as well.
Speaking after the tournament, Habib Iddrisu expressed satisfaction with the positive opportunities the competition had created for young people in the constituency.
He also appealed to residents to continue supporting his efforts to promote development and youth empowerment in the area.
Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association, Abu-Hassan Mahamadu, popularly known as Rhyzo, praised the MP for investing in football development within the constituency.
He highlighted the abundance of football talent in Tolon and appealed for office space to be provided for the association to help strengthen talent development and sustain football activities in the area.
