Activities involved in the agreement would be driving refresher courses for clubs, branding GFA vehicles with NRSA logo, creating awareness campaigns targeted at football fans and communities, organizing educational programs for young footballers focusing on road safety and responsible behavior

Mr. Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) expressed excitement with the agreement with NRSA which had been in the pipeline over the past few months.

He asserted the essence of such partnerships to the football fraternity in a time when road accidents are skyrocketing.

“This partnership is mutually beneficial. It concerns everybody here and beyond and it’s the reason all of us must pay attention to this campaign and to go out as proud ambassadors of this road safety campaign.”

The GFA President revealed that the campaign was a collective effort that demanded the commitment of all, especially members of the various clubs.

“We would do whatever it takes, using our football products, football space, and our social media presence as proud ambassadors to end road accidents. Let us use our football vehicle to the best of our ability and show our friends from the National Road Safety that indeed football can make a change,” he said.

He pledged that the National Road Safety campaign would not only be limited to clubs but would also be extended to national teams.

Mr. David Osafo Adonteng, the Acting-Director General, NRSA said the partnership seek to leverage the power of football to promote road safety awareness and education in Ghana.

“The statistics are alarming. and the human cost is heart-wrenching. It is our collective responsibility to act decisively and creatively to reduce these incidents, save lives, and foster a culture of responsibility on our roads.

Every year, thousands of lives are lost on our roads, leaving families and communities devastated, but we believe that together, we can make a difference,” he said.

He revealed that football clubs and players were powerful influencers in societies, hence the need to train them with essential skills to make them ambassadors of road safety.

Mr. Adonteng urged drivers, team managers, and club officials to ensure they put the lessons into practice to help reduce road accidents.

The Director-General expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Ghana Football Association for their forward-thinking approach and commitment to social impact.
