Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Dr Randy Abbey has said the association are in no rush to make a decision despite public pressure to sack Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor.

Many Ghanaians have lost faith in Akonnor and want him dismissed by the GFA after the Black Stars performed poorly in Johannesburg against South Africa on Monday.

Akonnor’s team were beaten 1-0 by Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium. A result that has left the Black Stars in danger of not qualifying for the World Cup for a second successive edition.

“We went to play a match and it did not go well with us and the team arrived on Tuesday,” Dr Abbey told Asempa FM.

“The GFA has fixed Friday for a meeting so what is the big deal about it?

“Everybody has the chance to discuss the game and nothing stops anybody from discussing the game but nobody can rush the Ghana Football Association [GFA] into doing anything.

“People must take their time and cool heads must prevail. We have to take our time and analyze the situation properly.

“It is not a panic situation and nobody should press the panic button,” he added.

Akonnor has been in charge of 10 games and has a win rate of 40% with three of the victories coming against countries ranked lower than 120th by FIFA.

Akonnor has beaten Qatar Sudan, Sao Tome and Principe, and Ethiopia while losing to Mali, Sudan, Morocco and South Africa.
