Swedish giants Malmo FF have signed highly-rated 18-year-old Ghanaian starlet Yassin Mohammed in a landmark move that secures an influential addition to the club’s master plan to shape its young force.

The adolescent striker, the latest after staying with Malmo’s U19 side through recent trials, earned a call on a regular deal after displaying superior form to finish a series of prolonged trials ahead of rival interested parties.

Naturally born and raised in Ghana, Mohammed stunned Malmo’s scouting team with his agility, positional sense, and natural movement as an attacking player.

The final approval to sign him came after he had impressed the team with consistency and versatility during training with them. “‘Yassin is a talented striker who our chief scout Jeffrey (Aubynn) discovered on a trip down to Ghana,” Malmo assistant sports manager, Ola Toivonen, said. “We feel that he is a skilled player with good timing in his running and who we believe has huge development potential within our system.”

The club announced that Mohammed would initially be absorbed into the P19 (U19) squad, where he would be given permission to continue his development with formal coaching and close monitoring.

The action underscores Malmo’s focus on developing world talent, specifically from Africa, where numerous successful scouting excursions have previously returned with high-profile additions to the club roster.
