Arsenal have booked a place in their first UEFA Champions League final in two decades after defeating Atletico Madrid 2-1 on aggregate.
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the second-leg clash at Emirates Stadium was closely contested, with both sides struggling to create clear chances in the opening stages.
The decisive moment came just before halftime when Bukayo Saka scored in the 44th minute after goalkeeper Jan Oblak parried an effort from Leandro Trossard. The move was initiated by impressive build-up play from Viktor Gyokeres.
Atletico threatened on several occasions, with Declan Rice producing an important defensive challenge to stop Giuliano Simeone in the first half.
In the second half, defender Gabriel Magalhães also made a crucial intervention after Simeone rounded goalkeeper David Raya.
Gyokeres later missed a golden opportunity to extend Arsenal’s lead when he fired over the bar from close range after connecting with a cross from substitute Piero Hincapie.
Despite the missed chance, Arsenal held firm to secure progression to the final, keeping alive hopes of winning both the Champions League and the Premier League this season under manager Mikel Arteta.
The achievement marks Arsenal’s first appearance in the Champions League final since their defeat to Barcelona in 2006.
