President John Dramani Mahama has joined fellow African leaders in Nairobi for the Africa Forward Summit, a major France-Africa partnership forum centred on sustainable development, economic resilience and international cooperation.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the summit was organised by Emmanuel Macron and has brought together African Heads of State, international business leaders and development partners to discuss key priorities affecting the continent.
The statement indicated that President Mahama, who currently serves as the African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, is expected to participate in a high-level session on green industrialisation and energy transition.
The discussion will focus on ways to accelerate Africa’s industrial development while addressing climate change challenges and the global shift toward clean energy solutions.
Later, the President is also scheduled to attend a working lunch on reforming the international financial system, with discussions expected to centre on improving Africa’s access to sustainable financing and making global financial structures more responsive to the continent’s needs.
President Mahama will additionally co-chair a roundtable discussion on healthcare under the theme “Rethinking Global Health and Building Resilient National Health Systems.”
The Presidency noted that the engagement aligns with the goals of the Accra Reset Initiative, which seeks to strengthen healthcare systems and improve preparedness for future global health emergencies.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Mahama is expected to hold bilateral meetings with António Guterres, Kristalina Georgieva and Alvaro Lario.
The meetings are expected to focus on international cooperation, economic stability and food security issues affecting Ghana and the wider African continent.
