The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has announced that May 1, 2026, will be observed as a statutory public holiday across Ghana.
In an official statement, he urged the public to recognise and observe the day accordingly, as it marks Workers’ Day.
The Minister noted that the holiday is dedicated to honouring workers and acknowledging the contributions of labour movements worldwide. Celebrated annually on May 1, the day brings together workers across the globe in remembrance and solidarity.
Workers’ Day remains an important occasion that highlights the role of labour in national development and underscores the collective strength of workers internationally.
