The event was organised to promote Ghana’s cultural heritage, indigenous textiles, and tourism opportunities, particularly within northern Ghana.

Addressing attendees at the ceremony, Abla Dzifa Gomashie encouraged Ghanaians to support locally made products, especially Fugu and other traditional fabrics, to help generate employment, strengthen local industries, and preserve the country’s cultural identity.

She explained that Fugu represents more than just clothing, describing it as a symbol of Ghana’s resilience, heritage, and national identity.

According to the Minister, increased patronage of Made-in-Ghana products would create economic opportunities for weavers, fashion designers, traders, and entrepreneurs while also boosting the tourism and creative arts sectors.

She also highlighted the tourism potential of northern Ghana, pointing to its rich traditions, festivals, music, cuisine, arts, and historical attractions as major assets capable of attracting visitors from around the world.

The Minister further commended Wiyaala for consistently promoting Fugu and staying connected to her cultural roots long before the fabric became widely popular on social media.

In her response, Wiyaala pledged to continue projecting Ghana’s cultural identity globally through her music and fashion. She reaffirmed her dedication to serving as a cultural ambassador and showcasing Ghana’s creativity and heritage on the international stage.
